What are Testers & Demos? –   In addition to our regular merchandise, we also sell new unused testers or demo bottles.   If an item is not marked on our site as a tester/demo it is the regular designer boxed merchandise you are used to. The testers/demos are the same as the regular merchandise except for the box.   The bottle is the same.   The perfume contents are the same.   All are new/unused and come in a plain brown box instead of the fancy designer box.   All are sprays and come with the sprayer top, but some may be missing the decorative sprayer cover (cap), you may want this (cap) if you travel.   Testers/demos are all new and unused.   They are manufactured for retail stores to set out on their counters so customers can test their products.   If you really want to save money this is the way to go!   To locate these items search under the perfume name or search under the word "tester" to see all available testers.

What are No Box Items? - Items listed as having no box are new, unused and in 1st quality condition.   There are various reasons why these items may not have a designer box such as the designer box has been torn or damaged in some way. These items come in a plain brown box.

How to Apply Perfume -  fragrance rises, so be sure to put some behind your knees as well as on your other favorite pulse points - ear lobes, throat, the bend in your elbow, wrist and between your breasts. Do not rub perfume into the skin as this damages the perfume's molecular structure.  Do not spray perfume on your hair unless it is freshly washed, as the oils can change the nature of the fragrance.  Spray 8" away from your body for proper dispersion. Do not spray scent directly on your clothes because perfume can stain fabrics, instead mist undergarments and put dusting powder in your shoes.  Perfume fades from contact and also from absorption into skin, to extend fragrance life apply to less-porous areas of your body or use a lotion before applying perfume.  People with dry skin will see fragrance fade faster and may need to re-apply perfume mid-day.

Measurement Conversions - Parfum is always measured in milliliters (ml) and then ml is converted to ounces (oz) for sale in the United States:

100 ml = 3.3 oz or 3.4 oz

75 ml = 25 oz

50 ml = 1.6 oz or 1.7 oz

45 ml = 1.5 oz

30 ml = 1.0 oz

Perfume Strengths - Perfume is made of fragrant oils diluted with high grade alcohol (eau), 2 – 15% being perfume oil while 85 – 98% being alcohol.  The concentration does not affect the smell, only how long it stays on your skin.  Typical concentrations are:

Eau de Cologne or Cologne 2 – 5% Oil

Eau de Toilette 4 – 10% Oil

Eau de Parfum 8 – 15% Oil

Parfum or Perfume 15 – 25 % Oil

Perfume Categories - There is not exact science for categorizing perfume but some of the commonly used ones are:

Floral - This is the largest category, and it includes fragrances with primary ingredients derived from flowers.  (Floral Sub-Categories: Ambery, Fruity, Citrus and Woody.)

Oriental - Generally full-bodied compositions that create an exotic, warm impression due to the inclusion of ingredients like spices, musk, balsams and resins. (Oriental Sub-Categories: Citrusy, Ambery, Spicy, Floriental, Gourmand)

Chypre - (pronounced sheepra, the French word for cyprus), fragrances originally reminiscent of the Island of Cyprus. Typically woodsy, mossy, citrusy perfume generally containing soft, sweet, earthy notes of bergamot, oakmoss, citruses and  patchouli.  (Chypre Sub-Categories: Floral, Fruity, Animalic)

Citrus - effervescent or exhilarating fragrances which contain fruits such as lime, lemon, tangerine, mandarin and bergamot (hesperides) This category dates back to ancient times.  (Citrus Sub-Category: Floral)

Fougθre – (pronounced foozh-air), the French word for fern.  The fragrances have fresh herbaceous notes on a mossy fern-like base.

Black – Prominent notes are derived from black plant parts such pine, juniper, grass, leaves, and herbs.

Top Notes - Apparent immediately upon application but will fade within a few minutes.

Middle Notes - Apparent approximately 15 minutes after application and may last up to 1 hour.

Base Notes - These are the strongest and longest lasting notes.
